“Now after Jesus was born… wise men… have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:1-2
Jesus said to the Samaritan woman in John 4:23-24, “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”
Romans 5:12 says, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death though sin, and then death spread to all men, because all sinned.” Because of sin, man was now eternally separated from God (Isaiah 59:2). Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin are death (eternal separation from God).
There was no hope for mankind to be reconciled with God. Reconciliation required a sinless human being willing to give his life so that the rest of mankind could live. But fortunately, God had a plan in His heart before the beginning of time. God Himself would take on the form of a human being and pay the death penalty for man’s sins (Leviticus 17:11; John 1:14; Romans 5:9; II Timothy 1:9, Hebrews 2:17 AMP). So through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, salvation was provided for mankind! We have much to praise God, thank God, and worship God for!
True worship has nothing to do with a religious denomination or physical location, nor can it be properly defined. It represents such love, gratitude, and devotion, that it cannot be put into words. Worship cannot be defined by a song, a shout, a dance, or silence, because true worship comes from the depth of the human heart and is based on the truth of God’s Word. It is a powerful outpouring of our hearts towards God!
Perhaps to better understand worship, we should ask ourselves the following question: “How much do we value and appreciate all that God Almighty has done, is doing, and will do through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit on our behalf?” We never get tired of talking about what we value most. So if we sincerely value God most, praise, thanksgiving, and worship should be something we never tire of doing.
